Beer Label Coasters

Beer Lable Coasters
-for the beer lover in your life!

First order of business.....GET DRINKING CRAFT BEERS!

I did the same thing I do for the beer labels post. Collect beer labels, modge podge them on tiles I bought from the dollar store (they already are coasters and have a cork backing) They are nice and heavy and easy to apply the labels to. Decorate accordingly.

Once you put a few coats on, I used this spray (and do it outside, I nearly died in my apt from the fumes) and sprayed about 3 layers. Turns out glossy and ready to use!

**happy graduation Billy, and I followed up that with a big beer mug with his initials monogramed on it.

Painted Mason Jars (inside)

Painted Mason Jars
painted these for Mother's Day gift with fresh flowers

bought mason jars at Christmas Tree Shoppes (they were pretty cheap and had different sizes)

I looked around for paint that could be used with water and I came up with enamal bases paint. Folk Art paint enamal is what I used. Other websites suggest to pour it in and roll the glass around. Mine did not do that and I had to physically paint the inside of my glass. Make sure you don't get streak marks, and apply evenly.

Once it was finished, I followed the directions on the bottle on how to cure it. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.... no nothing bad happened but I am sure it could. Set the glass in there while it heats up and then don't take it out till the oven is completely cool. Prevents the glass from bursting. "ain't nobody got time for that!"

What I did do, after it was set in the oven and taken out, I filled it up with water to see if it were true. Now, after a few days you could see that the water was "eating" through the paint (for lack of a better word) therefore I didn't want to give the gift if it was going to wear the paint away, I was bummed. But I got an idea after I almost knocked over the water cup I was using, and I took that plastic cup and stuck it inside. It didn't hit the bottom and yet it stayed in place, and I was able to put the ring around the top and you couldn't even tell! Problem solved! Now not all the glasses I got were able to fit the cup so I had to put those ones aside till I figure out what to do with them.

The purple one has the cup inside

Got this wooden plaque from Michaels and painted it an eggshell color

I used yellow transfer paper to take a design I wanted to paint on and traced it.

In the process of painting it

Adding detail

Printed off words from the comptuer using a font. Then used transfer paper to trace it on there.

Added some detail to the plaque. Took a small stick wreath, cut it in half and then took small pieces of wood and painted them to look like fire. Some 3D effects.

Scrabble tiles

Scrabble Tiles

I found a scrabble game when cleaning out the closet at school, and not knowing if all the pieces were in there, I took it for crafts! :]    ....I had an old frame and decided to put together a Christmas gift for my grandmom.

Picture frame transformation

Picture Frame Transformation

A friend bought this for me one year for my birthday (lacy!!) and I never put any pictures in it, 3 moves later and 2 hooks broke. It sat in the corner for awhile until I got an idea!

I opened it up and took off the letter 'F' to see if i could find letter about the same to spell "family" (side note: I have a ton of frames with friends but none really with family) I also needed to think of a way to replace the hooks, and I couldn't find hooks the same size, same holes, etc. So I had to rethink this idea....

So I found this instead of single letters (only because I was tired of going to Michaels and Acmoore to find letters, and they never had all the letters I needed, of course!) so I painted it black.

After I had painted it, I went to mount it and realized the hole didn't fit the word right, so I took off the bottom of the mat inorder to fit it in there (and wanted to get this over with) ....

So to the frame and the hook dilemma, I got a brillant idea to use the contact paper from the bins I covered to cover this small space. So I covered that area and had to use tape on the back to make sure it stuck (contact paper was from the dollar store) and bam! problem solved.....

Assembled product (p.s. those are not my family members but the pictures that came inserted! haha)

Hard to tell, but instead of searching for new hooks, because the original holes were covered up i was able to keep 2 of the hooks, and put them back on and use the two middle ones. Hard to see, haven't made up my mind to spray paint or paint them black to make them stand out....... DONE project and ready for pictures!!! :]
